The Diocesan Museum of Naples is a new artist who lives in the heart of the historic
line of decuman.
The Museum houses works of Neapolitan artists and not, of indisputable artistic
merit, which come from the Church property not previously accessible to the public. The
exhibition of works by Massimo Stanzione, Luca Giordano, Lorenzo, leading visitors
on a historical, religious, cultural and art journey steeped in local tradition.
The museum has two floors: the ground floor where you can admire the church
of Santa Maria Donnaregina Nuova and works of art housed there: the frescoes by
Francesco de Benedictis, the wooden crucifix by an unknown sculptor of the fourteenth
century., l 'oil on canvas by Fabrizio Santafede "Madonna Enthroned with Saints;
and the first floor, organized in exhibition rooms.
Along the rooms you can see the "Lamentation Over the Dead Christ"by the painter
Andrea Vaccaro, the altarpiece by an unknown Neapolitan painter of the fifteenth
century. "St. Benedict and his stories ", reliquaries which the bust of San Massimo
and Santa Candida made of silver by Giovan Domenico Pomace and many other artistic
works.
