HISTORY
You just can’t say you’ve travelled the world until you’ve been at least once
to Naples, the Parthenopean capital part of the Grand Tour and celebrated by worldwide
artists and writers. Crossroads of people living in the Mediterranean Area, the
city inspired the hotel name, to celebrate the renowned sea that joins the Italian
coasts to North Africa ones and to the Arab peninsula.
From the original rationalist architectural style that inspired the Principal
Architect of Italy, Ferdinando Chiaromonte, and the designer Giò Ponti, only the
ample spaces and neo-classical look remain. In February 2005, a complete restyling
of the building took the hotel back to its original style, recreating the elegant
and comfortable atmosphere of a private residence.
In 2003, the Renaissance hotel became part of the Marriott group. Today , Renaissance
Naples Hotel Mediterraneo, part of the SNG group, headed by Neapolitan businessman
Salvatore Naldi, is a favorite choice of businessmen and travelers alike.
The secret? All the features of the Renaissance are there but with a Neapolitan soul. The different shades
of color on the upholstery, on the parquet and marble flooring, softens the volume
and spaces and, at the same time, speaks to the solar warmth of the city, with
its contrasts of amplified light from the liquid splendor of the Gulf of Naples,
that can be felt from the roof-garden and in the guest rooms.
